In 2010 we were retained by Humboldt General Hospital to manage the bidding, construction, design team liaisons, and project oversight for a ten year five phase expansion of hospital facilities. The initial two projects were conventional bidding process and the final three were negotiated as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR). The initial two projects were completed without claims or delay and the jobs were completed on or before scheduled completion dates and within the hospital budgets. These projects have a higher performance bar working in a 24/7 Critical Access Hospital that must stay in operation. The three CMAR phases were productive and profitable for the hospital and the contractor based upon a shared savings arrangements for incorporating contractor suggested changes on a 60/40 Owner/Contractor basis with a 1% cap.
